Kentucky-Trailer-VanKentucky Trailer has established a reputation for building specialty trailers for the household moving and storage industry. They have the experience, engineering and expertise to build a trailer that will meet your most specialized needs with world-class results. We could try to list all the configurations Kentucky is capable of building, but that would be a very long list.

Innovation Is in Kentucky’s DNA

Kentucky Trailer was founded in 1879 as the Kentucky Wagon Manufacturing Company in Louisville, KY. Known for top quality and unmatched workmanship, the company produced some of the nation’s most popular horse-drawn wagons and became the largest wagon manufacturer in the world.

In 1936, R.C. Tway purchased the assets of Kentucky Wagon Manufacturing and renamed it Kentucky Manufacturing Company. He shifted the focus to building truck-drawn trailers. During WWII, the US Government commissioned Kentucky to build flatbed trailers for the US Army. After the war, Kentucky excelled at designing and building a wide variety of trailers.

This focus on customization has carried through to today, making Kentucky the nation’s leading manufacturer of customized moving vans and specialty application trailers.

In 2003, Kentucky Manufacturing acquired Trailer Technologies of Walled Lake, MI. This marked their entry into the specialty vehicle segment, allowing them to provide products for commercial, government, vehicle transport, and mobile medical markets.

Innovative Solutions for Unique Needs

Kentucky Trailer’s motto is, “If you can dream it, Kentucky can build it.” They pride themselves on innovation and problem solving, and finding inventive ways to solve tough problems. We’ve never seen them walk away from anything the customer wanted.

There are nearly limitless configurations of trailers that Kentucky builds, including:

  • Highly engineered drop frame electronics vans
  • Moving vans with multiple side doors
  • Deep double drop vans
  • Enclosed automobile transport trailers
  • Specialized mobile medical trailers
  • Marketing showcase trailers with slide-out sides
  • Enclosed horse transport trailers

Kentucky has built marketing showcase trailers for NASCAR. The sides extended out like an RV, and the trailer opened up like a mobile showroom.

Piedmont Airlines once used a custom Kentucky trailer as a mobile classroom for training new flight attendants. They even incorporated actual sections of an airplane in the trailer.

If your operations call for a specialized trailer, Kentucky has the engineers and design experts to build the trailer tailored to your specific needs. We would welcome the opportunity to help you get the exact trailer you need — contact us today!
