Utility is our most popular product line — and for good reason. Established over 100 years ago, Utility has earned a reputation for building the best trailers in the business. CRTS has been a proud partner for over 50 years, so we have a deep understanding of their products and their performance.

Get the Trailer You Need, Not the One a Dealer Wants to Sell
Let’s take a look at the Utility product line we offer.
3000R Refrigerated Trailer
Utility has been the top-selling refrigerated trailer for the past 26 years. What sets this trailer apart from the crowd is its full 360-degree foam in place process, which no other manufacturer can boast. The foam in place process prevents foam voids in the corners, which means you won’t get any hot spots or thermal leakage.
Utility’s high-performance Versitex liner (VR2) is an innovation that drastically reduces damage done by forklifts and careless product handlers. An intact liner means increased thermal efficiency. Moisture stays out of the foam, prolonging the life of the trailer.
Utility also uses this high-performance liner in the subfloor. Because the liner is highly resistant to damage, the subfloor will maintain its integrity much longer. It helps prevent moisture intrusion, which weakens the load bearing capacity of the floor itself.
With a number of customizable options, the Utility reefer can be built to match your exact needs.
4000 D-X Dry Freight Van
This innovative trailer comes standard with a stainless steel rear frame for extended life and strength. The 4000 D-X dry freight van boasts a snag-free interior, protecting your product from damage when scuffed against the wall.
This freight van offers remarkable sidewall strength and durability:
- Galvanized steel interior lining
- Squeeze-riveted logistic posts, with fully recessed fasteners to the outer skin
- Polyurethane foam injected between the interior liner and the outer sheet
Utility also protects the flooring by using a 27-inch deep integrated threshold plate assembly, rather than placing the plate on a wood floor. This prevents moisture from seeping under the plate and destroying the wood flooring.

4000 AE Lightweight Combo Flatbed Trailer
This flatbed trailer has the strength and durability of a steel-framed flat with the weight savings of aluminum components. The main beam is a single precision-cut piece that has less camber, which also means less deflection in the beams. Aluminum 3- and 4-inch crossmembers reduce weight without sacrificing strength or durability.
In the case of the 4000 AE, greater strength doesn’t mean sacrificing lighter weight. The flatbed weighs in at less than 9,000 pounds — comparable to the weight of an all-aluminum trailer, at far less expense
Attention to the little details makes a big difference on this flatbed:
- High quality paint process includes shot blasting the bare metal, applying a two-part primer, and applying a two-coat urethane top coat.
- Rust preventative coating is applied to the interior of the main beams to reduce maintenance costs.
- A microencapsulated adhesive is used on all fasteners to create a stronger connection. This also makes the fasteners vibration proof, protected from corrosion, and resistant to fuel, grease and oil.
The Tautliner is another Utility standout. This trailer has the base of a Utility flatbed, and the Tautliner built on the base. This product has plenty of imitators on the market, but none are as highly engineered as the Tautliner.
This trailer offers the loading capabilities of a flatbed trailer with the weather protection of a dry van trailer. It comes with a fixed roof and fixed rear frame with real doors – swing or roll-up. The trailer also has flexible sides that fold up and move like curtains to allow loading from the sides.
